we purchased THIS SAAB 9000 new in 1986. it was one of the first 9000T’s to be sold in california. the dealer had done the 2-tone paint on another car, and i really liked it, so i had them do this one with “edwardian grey” on the bottom when we bought it.
here is the original window sticker and folder we received with purchase. it was $22,846
this car would become part of our family history. both of our boys, now grown, were brought home from the hospital in this car — their very first car ride ever. bike racks. vacations. groceries. it was our family car for the early years as our family grew.
we were in an accident on the 4th of july in 1990 (details to follow) when a lady in a white BMW 320 ran a red light at bristol & jamboree and hit our right front fender, spun us around and hit our right rear. we were all fine, including Jamie in his carseat in the back, and our exchange student who had been in the US for only days. i bought the car back from insurance and with bud’s help (J&B) rebuilt it to better than new.
after the accident, insurance bought us a 1987 almost exactly the same to replace it, and in 1996, cinda had a freak parking lot accident with a pole and the 1987 was totalled. we settled for $5,250 for the car. then it was mitsubishi montero season… (more to come)
in ’99 we again were back at the saab dealer, leasing a new 9-3 5-door 5-speed.
in 2002, because of some HEAVY year end discounts, and the end of our lease, we moved into purchasing a new 9-5 linear sport-combi automatic in hazelnut brown.
